Exhibit Opening: Local Color: Watercolors by Elizabeth Sheridan

Familiar sites abound in the florals and landscapes of Elizabeth Sheridan’s recent watercolor paintings. Elizabeth paints scenes familiar to many in Western Massachusetts; from the rose gardens and arbors of Forest Park to the disappearing Pioneer Valley tobacco barns. On display through September 23, 2008.

Garden Talk: Shrubs for the Small Garden

Master Gardener Duncan McQueen will be speaking on the subject of unusual conifers and deciduous shrubs for the Western Massachusetts garden. Duncan will present an illustrated program emphasizing low maintenance plantings. There will be time provided for a how-to on designing a small shrub border or bed.
All talks are a $5 donation to benefit the garden restoration projects at Wistariahurst. Garden Workshops presented by Wistariahurst Museum Gardeners & Western Mass Gardeners Association.

Historical Perspectives: In the Shadows of the Birthplace of the American Revolution: The Native & African Enslaved

Anika Nailah, author of Free & Other Stories, will share some of the research she has gathered while writing her historical novel about Massachusetts slavery from the 1600s through the American Revolution. She will also read from the novel-in-progress and will provide participants with a bibliography of relevant historical references.
